Our college was recognised by Bar Council of India and University Grants Commission. The college actually commenced on 11-5-1957. Initally, it was affiliated to Karnataka University and from the year 1965 the college got affiliated to Mysore University which granted the permanent affiliation in June 1966 for running B.L.Course.Till the year 1967 the Law course was of two years duration. In the year 1968 the duration of the Law course was extended to three years and Mysore University has granted Permanent Affiliation for Three Years LL.B.Degree course from 1976-77. After the establishment of Mangalore University in 1980, ours was one of the two law colleges under its ambit. As per the directive of the Bar Council of India, five years Professional Law course was introduced in 1984-85.

The College is permanently affiliated to Mangalore University and recognised by UGC U/S 2f and 12B and by Bar Council of India. The Syllabi and teaching is in accordance with the rules framed by the Bar Council of India. To improve the standard of legal Education consistent with the uniform policy of the Bar Council of India and UGC, the Mangalore University has introduced seminar scheme from 2003-04.
